Newport Vineyards is looking for Sous Chef to assist our Executive Chef with on-site restaurants and catering.  Must have a solid culinary background, flexible schedules and a good work ethic.

We are looking for a bright, driven, positive candidate to join our back of house team. Must have a passion for food, beverage and farm to table dining with a desire to learn more.  We are a teaching kitchen with everything made from scratch. We can offer experience in restaurants, catering, quick-casual. Candidates must be able to meet and exceed our goal of customer expectations and satisfaction during their visit with us.

Tasks include but are not limited to assisting with menu prepping and execution, daily specials, maintaining the highest level of cleanliness and organization and produce a quality product our guests will enjoy.  Candidates must have an awareness of local sourcing, be familiar with the regional offerings, and share the love of food.

·         Excellent customer service and team management skills: Essential that you maintain an energetic, friendly and positive attitude at all times

·         Food, farm, wine, beer and beverage knowledge of all items on the menu

·         Winery history & Vineyard knowledge

·         Assist Chef in all F&B areas as needed

·         Execute all the Chefs duties on when he is absent

·         Execute all BOH Brix/Café/Catering opening and closing needs as needed

·         Solve any guest issues quickly and efficiently

·         Able to assist, help and preform any BOH Kitchen staff members job function

·         Respond to additional guest requirements by observing the dining process or inquiring of any needs

·         Scheduling, hiring and dismissal of staff

·         Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

·         All opening and closing supervisor procedures, include but not limited to: checking in staff, prep sheets, kitchen specials, observing opening and closing staff, filling out all daily management forms, making daily kitchen flow plans, washing and stocking of all BOH equipment & items, cleaning all BOH areas, menu creation, purchasing, food costing, providing direction to other members of the kitchen team, maintaining the highest level of cleanliness and organization and produce a quality product our guests will enjoy

·          Must be able to lift 50lbs

·         Must have food handlers’ certificate

·         Able to work a flexible schedule including holidays and weekends

·         Able to work on a POS system, Microsoft word, Excel

·         Protects establishment and guests by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies
