Hosted by Katherine Brown and Sheila Brush with the City of Providence

Urban planners, public officials, food advocates, and community members are invited to celebrate international attention for Providence’s innovative integration of food into urban planning.

  • A moderated panel will include Director of Planning & Development Bonnie Nickerson, Director of the Healthy Communities Office Ellen Cynar and Health & Sustainability Program Associate Nellie de Goguel, and chapter authors Katherine Brown (former Executive Director of the Southside Community Land Trust) and Sheila Deming Brush (retired Program Director for Grow Smart Rhode Island)

The United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization’s recent publication Integrating Food into Urban Planning includes Providence as one of 20 cities around the world that have pro-actively planned to increase food security and nutrition.
