February 23, 2020 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
“Chi” means life energy. A part of fostering our life energy is eating food that is good for your body and mind, and using food as medicine. Here at Chi Kitchen, we make and manufacture Kimchi. Our kimchi is Korean style fermented cabbage, bursting with asian flavors. Not only is it delicious, but it is probiotic packed, meaning it is great for gut health and your immune system. By taking this class, you will have the opportunity to learn all about fermenting and kimchi, while also getting to learn how to make it yourself.
In this class you will walk away with:
KNOWLEDGE about the history of Kimchi and fermentation, as well as the health benefits to kimchi
TIPS on how to use kimchi in your favorite recipes at home
and TAKING HOME a jar of kimchi that you made, and the KNOW HOWto make it yourself!
you will also be TAKING HOME Chi Kitchen’s RECIPE
The class will be taught by Chi Kitchen’s founder and CHI-EO, Minnie Luong. She was born on a rice farm in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam and grew up in Rhode Island in a food obsessed family. Back then there weren’t many Asian ingredients available in their local grocery stores, so her family grew and preserved their own foods, as a way of connecting with their family and culture. After working as a Chef and Culinary Educator in Los Angeles, she decided she wanted to start a healthy Asian food company, so she packed her family and moved back to Rhode Island to start Chi Kitchen in 2015. Now, her kimchi can be found in grocery stores and restaurants all over New England, including all Whole Foods in New England.
Minnie will teach you all the ins and outs of her kimchi, and how to make your own. Can’t wait!
