The Department of Environmental Management is accepting applications for the Local Agriculture and Seafood Act (LASA) grants program. The grants will assist small or beginning farmers market and promote the sale of Rhode Island grown agricultural products and local seafood.
The Raimondo Inaugural Committee today announced plans for the 2015 inauguration of Gina Raimondo and the other General Officers. The theme is “Make It In Rhode Island” and the inaugural celebration will highlight some of the best Rhode Island has to offer and the potential of our state to provide opportunities for everyone.
The Rhode Island Community Food Bank released its 2014 Status Report on Hunger today, which finds that one in seven Rhode Island households cannot afford adequate food. Hunger continues at levels virtually unchanged from the all-time high experienced during the recession.
Rhode Islanders now have eight winter farmers’ markets available throughout the state where they can purchase a wide variety of locally-grown and produced products. The Department of Environmental Management’s Division of Agriculture and partners are helping to sponsor the indoor farmers’ markets through the “Get Fresh. Buy Local.”
